Advanced Medicines Management Training (Including Medication Audit Training)

This course aims to offer a well-defined programme which will support, encourage and underpin ‘safe practice’; suitable for all Managers, senior staff or Nurses.

Course contents:

  • Updated information regarding relevant legislation. (Including, where appropriate, NMC guidelines, The Human Medicines Regulations 2012 etc.)
  • Revisiting your  the importance of  your own accountabilities and responsibilities for effective medicines management– organisational policy & service specific.
  • The requirement of all senior staff in practice to provide essential supervision in the workplace and education for all junior staff and peers: observation and monitoring for potential side effects, cautions, adverse reactions and contra-indications and the importance of reporting health & well-being changes.
  • Refreshing the key points in the care, control & administration of medicines – i.e. ‘The 7 Rights’. (Inc. capacity & consent relating to MCA & DoLS, safe storage, disposal procedures etc.)
  • Providing clear guidance as to the expectations of correct documentation and safe record keeping, including care plans, risk assessments, audits etc.

Course Notes

This course can be delivered in a ‘workshop style’ on our open course schedule which may be attended by individual senior staff from different service provisions. (please see 'open courses')

Alternatively, it may be brought in-house, during which time we can, if required, undertake the audit alongside the senior staff member.
