Tissue Viability and Wound Care Training Course

MODULE OBJECTIVES

  • To gain an awareness of "vulnerable" clients/client groups in relation to skin and tissue breakdown
  • To understand the different stages of healing (i.e. blanching erythema)
  • To understand how staff can aid/promote the healing process (i.e. positioning, nutritional factors)
  • To be aware of other associated factors and risks (i.e. disease, diabetes, terminal illness)
  • To understand the current, appropriate use of dressings & treatments
  • To understand the implementation of the Waterlow Scoring method
  • To gain awareness of the current ‘evidence based research’

MODULE NOTES

  • This session is suitable for Registered Nurses and Healthcare staff involved in promoting healing of wounds and recognising those who are vulnerable with regard to skin/ tissue breakdown
  • There will be some small group work involved in this training session; considering differing potential scenarios in relation to client groups, tissue viability and wound care.
