To explore the ways in which working within professional boundaries can improve the service delivered to your client and also build professional relationships within the team (both internal and external to your own organisation).


  • To understand the purpose and function of professional boundaries
  • To consider your own “organisational culture” and aspects of this which may impede/assist boundaries
  • To develop ways of sustaining useful boundaries
  • To consider other people’s perceptions and also tensions that can develop amongst team/client
  • To gain a clear understanding of professional accountability and responsibility
  • To gain awareness of legislation and professional ethics
  • To understand issues relating to confidentiality: what it means, why it is important and how confidentiality may be maintained
