Moving and Handling Training course

This course provides comprehensive training designed to provide a central core of training and knowledge for staff involved in the moving and assisting of clients.

Also suitable for staff annual updates (half-day course).

Course objectives - to discuss and identify:

  • Health & safety legislation relevant to manual handling.
  • Risks of injury from poor handling and help to reduce incidents/accidents
  • The process of appropriate risk assessment.
  • The use of safer manual handling principles.
  • Risks of falling and preventative measures

This course will include

  • Facts about back injury through client handling in care work.
  • Legislation, supporting literature & documentation.
  • Spinal mechanics, good working postures, risks of sustaining musculoskeletal injury &care of the back.
  • Application of Ergonomics.
  • The importance of risk assessment - formal & informal.
  • Principles of safer manual handling of inanimate loads.
  • Principles of moving & assisting people safely
  • Handling in teams.
  • Handling aids & equipment (relevant to service/care provision)


Course Information

Duration:   Half or Full-Day -  dependant on elements required

Who should attend:

Registered Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Care and Support Workers; new staff and those who have not attended an update for moving & handling within the last year or whose skills have diminished due to lack of opportunity to practice.

Certification: Certificate of Attendance

Cost: £345 + VAT   -  £495.00 + VAT (Maximum of 12 Candidates)
