Mental Health Workshop

This full day course aims to raise awareness of the most common mental health issues, considering ways in which individuals who have mental health issues can access support and treatment.

Course Objectives

  • To discuss stigma and prejudice in relation to mental health and the need for an equalities approach in the delivery of person centred partnership working
  • To examine and critique ways of working positively with individuals’ mental health conditions
  • To be aware of the importance of assessing individual needs and developing person centred care plans and to gain knowledge of positive risk management
  • To discuss current legislation and regulations
  • To gain knowledge of the Mental Health Act and the different sections under the Act.
  • To discuss The Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards in relation to individual care provisions
  • To discuss strategies and techniques for health and well-being, in particular addressing communication, motivation, choice and capacity.
