Medication Training (Including how to observe & supervise staff)

This course is suitable for team leaders, senior staff and managers who need to undertake supervision & practical assessments in the workplace

This training is delivered by experienced Registered Nurses.

MODULE OBJECTIVES

  • To review prior learning/understanding of ‘The 7 Rights’  and correct procedures for safe & effective administration of medicines (including storage & disposal)
  • To understand the importance for all staff to assess and report changes in health & well being in relation to medicines management
  • For staff to understand the importance of being knowledgeable of the person-centred care plan for all individuals prior to administration of medicines.
  • To check understanding and to gain awareness of the correct procedures to follow in the event of incidents such as spillages, omissions, refusals and errors
  • For participants to gain skills to assess staff on their basic knowledge of medicine usage for the individuals we support & potential side effects, cautions and contra-indications
  • For participants to gain skills in the evidencing and recording of supervisions, observations and practical assessments in the workplace (necessary to evidence staff competency).

MODULE NOTES

This course is delivered over a minimum of four hours and may need to be extended, dependent on numbers and existing knowledge of participants.
