Equality and Diversity Training

MODULE OBJECTIVES

  • To explore the meaning of equality and diversity and why they are important
  • To understand the meaning of equal opportunities in society
  • To discuss and understand which individual and social characteristics form the basis of diversity
  • To explore how different beliefs and value systems contribute to diversity
  • To understand why fostering diversity is important in the workplace
  • To understand the difference between prejudice and discrimination
  • How to recognise prejudice and discriminatory behaviour and practices
  • To gain an understanding of the law relating to anti-discrimination and how antidiscrimination can be fostered in the workplace.

MODULE NOTES

This course is designed to be delivered over a full day but may be delivered as a half-day course.

It is suitable for all care staff who are working in areas of diversity (eg. Learning Disability, Supported Living, adults with physical disability, dual diagnosis, elderly and Dementia care.)

The course may be delivered in-house and tailored to a particular staff and client group as required.
